Emily Preece – Year 2
After completing a BA Honours degree in Philosophy in 2010, at Cardiff University, I worked as an English mentor in a secondary school for a year. In 2011 I went on to complete a Primary PGCE at The University of Worcester, qualifying in 2012. For the first two years of my teaching career, I taught Year 5 in a state maintained
The travel bug soon set in so in 2014 I set off for Saudi Arabia where I worked at Dhahran British Grammar School for three years. Whilst in this post, I taught Year 5 and Year 1 and was the head of English. Since the beginning of 2018, I have been teaching Year 6 in an independent British school.
From before I can remember, my life has revolved around theatre. I have been a member of Kidderminster Operatic and Dramatic Society in the United Kingdom for over twenty years, following in the footsteps of my parents and grandparents. As well as ‘treading the boards’ I have also enjoyed directing school productions and assisting with local youth theatre groups.
Aside from performing and teaching, travel is another passion of mine. In recent years I have had the privilege of travelling far and wide to countries, such as India, Vietnam and Sri Lanka and I cannot wait to add Russia to the list! I am extremely excited about teaching at The British School of St. Petersburg, especially as a founding member of staff. The opportunity to develop my teaching practice at a ‘World Leading School’ and to work with other devoted teachers and students will be a privilege.
